About EJ
EJ Wise is a principal and practice lead in cybersecurity law with over 29 years of experience in the legal profession. With more than two decades serving as a military lawyer—including roles with the Royal Australian Air Force Cyber Squadron and the US Air Force JAG Corps at the Pentagon—EJ brings a deep understanding of operational, international, and cyber law. She has also held in-house legal positions within Australian federal and state government departments. At Wise Law, EJ applies her extensive legal and operational expertise to assist large and complex organisations in managing cybersecurity risks. She offers tailored legal advice, policy development, governance frameworks, training programs, incident response planning, and crisis management support to help clients enhance their cybersecurity resilience and protect their legal interests. EJ has contributed to academia through teaching roles at the University of New South Wales, University of Melbourne Business School, Australian Catholic University, Thomas More Law School, and Pericles University. She plays active roles within the cybersecurity sector, serving on advisory boards for RMIT and UNSW, participating in the Australian Information Security Association’s Executive Advisory Board, and engaging with IEEE’s cybersecurity initiatives. As a director of the National Institute for Strategic Resilience and founding chair of the Australasian Cyber Law Institute, EJ is recognised for her commitment to advancing cybersecurity law and practice in Australia.
