James O’Brien

James O’Brien is a highly experienced Legal Practice Manager with over 20 years’ involvement in defendant insurance litigation. His extensive knowledge spans public liability claims, professional indemnity, property damage, compulsory third party claims, and policy drafting and interpretation. James regularly represents insurers in cases involving workplace accidents, residential incidents, boating accidents, and sports-related injuries. He is known for his practical and informed advice, helping clients navigate complex insurance disputes effectively. In addition to his litigation work, James supports insurer clients by delivering presentations and assisting with the professional development of claims staff, particularly in relation to legislative changes impacting insurance law. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce and was admitted as a solicitor in 1995. James is a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Personal Injuries Law and is a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association. His expertise was recognised in the 2015 Doyle’s Guide as a leading Queensland lawyer in public and occupier’s liability matters.
