Greg Vellacott

Greg Vellacott graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Jurisprudence in 1978 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1979. He was admitted as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in December 1979. Greg’s practice primarily focuses on commercial conveyancing, where he acts for both sellers and buyers of commercial and industrial properties. He also negotiates and prepares leases for landlords and tenants in various settings, including office complexes and shopping centres. He provides advice and assistance to parties involved in contracts of sale or leases, helping them to understand, exercise, or defend their contractual rights. In addition to property law, Greg has extensive experience in trust law and matters relating to deceased estates. He regularly handles both contentious and non-contentious issues and has been involved in litigation concerning the testamentary capacity of Will makers. Greg has contributed to the legal community as a member of various committees within the Law Society of Western Australia. Notably, he served on the Community Titles Advisory Committee, which provided advice to the Western Australian Government on strata title matters. Outside his legal career, Greg has a distinguished background in badminton. He has served as honorary solicitor to the Badminton Association of Western Australia Inc. and acted as a commissioner for the Australian Badminton Association Inc. Greg holds the highest international umpiring qualification from the Badminton World Federation and has officiated at prestigious events including the Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and Olympic Games. He also served on the Badminton World Federation Appeals Panel and currently works as an Assessor of Umpires for the organisation. His contributions to the sport have been recognised through life membership of the Badminton Association of Western Australia, an Award of Merit and Distinguished Service Award from the Australian Badminton Association, and the Australian Sports Medal awarded by the Australian Government.
