Effy Li is the principal founding solicitor and a Notary Public at Brightstone Legal, bringing extensive experience in property and business transactions to her clients. She advises both local and international clients on interstate and cross-border acquisitions, disposals, and foreign investment within the Australian real estate market. Effy’s broad expertise covers a range of property matters, including residential conveyancing, commercial property purchases, off-the-plan developments, land subdivisions, mixed-use projects, and large-scale developments. Her clients include property developers, overseas investors, high-net-worth individuals, and first-home buyers, all of whom benefit from her meticulous approach, regulatory compliance focus, and commercial awareness. Effy offers strategic legal support throughout the transaction process, from acquisition structuring and contract negotiation to settlement and compliance with the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) and local government requirements. She is well-versed in real estate joint ventures, funding arrangements, and staged development schemes, which allows her to advise clients engaged in complex property ventures effectively. In addition to her property law practice, Effy represents business owners, small and medium enterprises, and investors on a range of commercial matters. Her experience includes business and company sales and acquisitions, drafting and negotiating shareholder and partnership agreements, loan arrangements, franchise agreements, and commercial leasing. Effy's clear, strategic advice supports business growth and effective risk management. Before founding Brightstone Legal, Effy studied law in China and gained significant experience advising on outbound investments, including work with major Chinese state-owned enterprises. She provided legal advice on corporate restructuring and Australian investments for a large Chinese oil and gas group. Her cross-jurisdictional knowledge and bilingual skills enable her to facilitate smooth transactions between Australian and Chinese markets. Effy is admitted to practice in the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New South Wales. She is also appointed as a Notary Public in New South Wales. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New South Wales.
